Downtime Lifts You Up

When’s the last time you did nothing while having downtime? Downtime lifts you up when you stop and do absolutely nothing. This mindset coaching article provides you with some tricks that I use to keep myself motivated every single day.

So many people use their lives to prove something. Because we only live once is all the reason I need to stop all the doing and proving to people that I. All reality I don’t even care about. Downtime lifts you up when you pay more attention to your breath. Try sitting down and closing your eyes. Then focus on breathing. If there are any distractions it’s ok. Let them be.

Distractions Happen In The Field

That quote is from one of my favorite movies. Starship Troopers. That movie reference has nothing to do with this article but the quote does. Our minds are constantly trying to distract us from being our true selves. Until we let downtime be the time we reflect on the current moment. I sit every day for at least 10 minutes (an hour usually) and concentrate on my breathe. It helps my ADHD mind stop playing the movie reel that is always playing.

Another way that downtime lifts you us is to write down your racing thoughts. Either in a journal or simply some loose leaf paper. It doesn’t have to be fancy if you don’t want it to be. I like to put dates on my entries because it helps me reflect on how far I’ve come in such a short time. Or long time if many days, months or years have passed by.

My last trick I’ll share with you is to record yourself talking about your thoughts out loud. This is a massive way to prove to yourself that downtime lifts you up. I call this Talk Therapy and when I lived in the Twin Cities I use to do this everyday on my long commute to work. Now living in northern Minnesota (South Canada as some would say) I don’t do it as often because it so much less stressful living up here. Also it’s amazing how much talking helps the mind settle down and how fast it works.

My challenge for you is to try one or all of these for 7 days straight and then email me at [email protected] with the Subject line Downtime Lifts You Up. In the body of the message let me know about your experience. For those brave enough to reach out I’ll have a special gift for you.

With that, let’s get moving. To come this far and move mentally and not physically is pointless. Life is a mind and body approach. Move your mind and move your body. Then your nervous system will take it in as truth way faster.

Have Fun!
