Expressing Gratitude Breaks HabitsHave you ever thought about how much we take for granted each moment of every day? Our habits are wrapped around it. Especially if the awareness isn’t on what you’re doing. Expressing gratitude breaks habits like that. This mindset coaching article will help increase awareness towards those unhealthy habits.

This might get a little weird but stick with me because it will pay off in the end.

So there I was finishing up eating pizza for supper on a Sunday night. The urge to pee hit me hard. Without thinking about it I went straight to the bathroom. I suddenly stopped and started expressing gratitude for what I was about to do.

Because going to the bathroom becomes a mindless task it gets overlooked and taken for granted. Expressing gratitude breaks habits like this because other problems seem small after you realize that the ability to use your hands is a gift. There are people out there who can’t use their hands. Heck, they can’t even use their fingers.

Knowing how to unbuckle a belt seems simple, but what if you had Alzheimer’s? If it were bad enough you wouldn’t be able to. Expressing gratitude breaks habits like this. What if you didn’t even realize you had to go to the bathroom?

Take this a step further and apply it to every moment of every day. As I write this mindset coaching article I’m expressing gratitude for my thumbs and the ability to type this article from my phone. Every time you mentally check out start expressing gratitude to break the habit. Simply assign a word to the situation.

For example, when you notice your conscious mind going to sleep, say the word “change” or any other word you want. Be sure to say it out loud though. 99% of you out there won’t say it out loud because you’re afraid of what other people will think. Be the 1% and do the work.

The ripple effect of increasing your awareness and gratitude will be what you want it to be. For me, it’s been such a life-changing experience. My mind is and belief in myself has increased tenfold. People around me are noticing that what I’m doing is changing them, which can be scary at first. However, they come around to the idea and want to hang out more.

That’s a side effect of becoming the person you were meant to be. People want to hang out with your more and sometimes you just want to be alone. That’s another mindset coaching article for another day though.

In conclusion to expressing gratitude breaks habits, stop checking out because you’re going to miss a lifetime of experiences. Therefore when the awareness increases things will start to happen. It will be uncomfortable at first. Be prepared for that, but do things you’ve never done to do more things you’ve never done.
